Juicing is a quick way to add extra nutrients to your diet. Not only can you juice a variety of fruits, herbs, and vegetables, but your body can digest juice a lot faster than solid food making it easier for your body to absorb more vitamins and minerals. Carrots are full of nutrients including vitamin A which is important for vision and immunity1. While juicing can’t replace meals, it’s still a wonderful addition to a balanced diet.

If you don’t own a juicer, don’t worry because owning one isn’t necessary for making fresh juice. As you can see in the title of this recipe, you can make juice using a blender or food processor (and a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to strain the pulp).

Ingredients

Organic produce is often preferred since some studies suggest that organic fruits and vegetables are more nutritious and are exposed to less pesticides. While organic is preferred, not everyone has the budget for organic produce. If you are worried about pesticides, you can soak your fruits and vegetables in baking soda and water for about 12-15 minutes2.

Carrots – Medium to large sized carrots.

Pineapple – Medium to large pineapple. Ripe.

Apples – Gala apples or any apple of your choice.

Ginger – Use as much as desired. Organic ginger tends to have a stronger taste.

Lemons – Whole lemons deseeded beforehand. You may wish to peel the skin and remove the pith, but there is no bitterness detected in this recipe.

Filtered Water – Helps propel the blades of the blender and extract the juice from the fruits and vegetables.

Required Tools

Blender – or food processor.

Fine mesh sieve – for straining pulp.

Cheesecloth (optional) – if you want your juice extra filtered.

Additional Info

For optimal freshness, store the juice in the fridge and consume within 1-3 days. You may also pour your juice into a spill-proof jar and store in the freezer if you plan to consume it after 3 days.
